For some strange reason, everybody seems to think I have to have the last word…. I don't know why, bottom line is, if what you say makes sense, I won't have to correct you. I hate ignorance and stupidity, I can't understand why adult's lie, like somebody is gonna whip their ass… And it kills me when your grown ass calls me with this story that you totally made up and expects me to believe it… I don't have time to re-raise a man that's supposed to be grown, I have kids of my own to raise. Another thing that gets under my skin is excuses, I hate them, and I will send you straight into voice mail every time you call there after…

Other than that I am a free spirited person, I love to love and to be loved too. I love animals and children as they are innocent and defenseless against the world we live in. Too Young for Smoking and Drinking and all that stuff....

I know we've been all over the teens for the last couple of weeks now, but hey they have a lot of issues so that gives us a lot to talk about.
I subscribe to that philosophy that says " do as I say, not as I do" and yes I may have experimented with alcohol before I was legally supposed to; but that doesn't mean it was the right thing to do nor does it mean I'm going to allow my teens to do the same thing.
The legal age for smoking varies by state, but does your age dictate your maturity level? What's your opinion?

Stats:

- Marijuana addiction and abuse represents by far the largest percentage of youth admissions to drug treatment facilities with 64% of all entries.
- Alcohol takes second with 19% and opiates, stimulants and other drugs of abuse make up the rest.
- 58% of all admissions to drug or alcohol treatment facilities are white, 19% black, and 17% Hispanic.
- 52% of youth in treatment were referred to mandated treatment through the criminal justice system, 17% initiated treatment of their own or familial accord, and 11% entered treatment through school involvement.
- Only 2% of youth in drug treatment needed intensive detoxification for their addiction or abuse.
- 20% of youth entering into drug or alcohol treatment had a concurrent mental disorder.
- Youth aged 12-17 account for 8% of all admissions into drug treatment.
- 14% of all youth in treatment started using drugs or alcohol before the age of 13.

So before you go closing your eyes to the fact that our young adults are falling prey to the addictive claws of smoking and drinking before they can clearly understand how detrimental the effects are to them, do something; don't wait just because you aren't seeing the signs. It's better to act prematurely than to not act at all.
